About the coffee

Established in 2013, Arisarina Cooperative currently has a membership of 2,494 farmers. These farmers share common goals to improve the quality of coffee grown in the Gayo highlands and to maintain and preserve the ecosystem. Like most Indonesian coffee, this offering is processing using the wet hulled or semi-washed method. Instead of being fully dried in parchment form, producers dry the wet parchment for only a few hours before selling it. At the mill, the parchment layer is separated from the bean by a wet-huller machine before the swollen green beans are dried. This allows for a shorter harvest-to-export turnaround and quicker payment for producers. Wet-hulled coffees often have more body and lower acidity.
